David Fly Introduces “Staying Faithful” Gathering

The Rev. Final summer throughout the General Convention associated with the Episcopal Church in Columbus, some of us arranged a reunion of previous [I started initially to state “old,” but thought better from it!] university chaplains. It absolutely was a great conference; just being together once again reminded us of several associated with battles we’d been through together into the belated ’60s and ’70s and in addition reminded us the reason we love this church a great deal. But we had been disrupted by a few of everything we saw at meeting and disturbed at a kind of poor attitude that did actually have taken root within the Episcopal Church as well as in the Anglican Communion. It reminded us a little bit of US politics. The “right” had been permitted to define the regards to the debate. The thing that was when honored as Anglican freedom – that two Episcopalians have not been recognized to completely agree with such a thing! – had been now viewed as a weakness instead of a strength. A church that has been when celebrated as a “big tent” now saw teams pitching their very own tents and declaring by themselves to function as “true tent.”
